More than 160 countries will celebrate ‘Ayurveda Day 2025’ on 29 October

Ayurveda is getting recognition at the global level through AYUSH Digital Mission: Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH

The Ministry of AYUSH is all set to celebrate the 10th Ayurveda Day on October 29, 2025. This year more than 160 countries around the world will be a part of this celebration. This time the theme has been kept as “Innovation of Ayurveda in Global Health”, which aims to present modern health solutions by combining traditional medical system with contemporary science. On this occasion, a grand ceremony will be organized at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH Shri Prataprao Jadhav said, “Ayurveda Day has now become an important health initiative not only in India but globally. The participation of more than 160 countries in 2025 reflects that Ayurveda is being adopted globally. This year’s theme is an effort to take the role of Ayurveda in health innovation to a new level.”

Key announcements and initiatives in Ayurveda Day 2025

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH informed that topics such as non-communicable diseases (NCDs), mental health, geriatric care and antimicrobial resistance will be discussed during this year’s Ayurveda Day celebrations. The Ministry aims to integrate Ayurveda with modern research and digital health systems.

He informed that major initiatives have been launched under the AYUSH Digital Mission (ADM), including Ayurveda health data platform, telemedicine services, and blockchain-based traceability of Ayurvedic products. Additionally, the Ayurveda Research Portal has been expanded, making more authenticated data and research available to the scientific community.

Growth in recognition of Ayurveda globally

Currently, Ayurveda has received official recognition in 30 countries, and this number is expected to increase by 2025. Also, Ayurveda products are now being exported to more than 120 countries, increasing its popularity in the global market.

Innovation and startups will get a boost

This year’s celebration will see significant participation from Ayurveda startups and industry. New initiatives will be taken in areas such as Ayurvedic Biotechnology, AYUSH Data Science and Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Innovation.

Dr. Manoj Nesari, Advisor, Ministry of AYUSH, said, “Our aim is to inspire the youth in the field of Ayurveda innovation. The growing interest in Ayurveda in North-East India is proof that this traditional system is reaching every corner of the country.”

Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, Vice Chancellor, National Institute of Ayurveda, said, “The participation of students and researchers will be unprecedented this year, which will further strengthen the synergy of Ayurveda and modern medicine.”

Participation of WHO and international institutions

Ayurveda Day 2025 will see the participation of the World Health Organization (WHO)’s Center for Traditional Medicine (GTMC), the Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine Research (ITRA), and several international health organizations.

The Ministry of AYUSH has reactivated the “I Support Ayurveda” campaign, which aims to garner support from over 300 million people by 2025. The campaign had garnered over 200 million supports in 2024.

Ayurvedic practitioners, researchers, startups and health experts from across the world are excited about this grand event to be held on 29 October 2025. The aim of this year’s event is not only to establish the scientific relevance of Ayurveda but also to fully integrate it into the global health system.

It is worth noting that Ayurveda Day is celebrated every year on the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras. Since its launch in 2016, it has taken the form of a global movement. The 2025 celebration will focus on innovation and research to advance Ayurveda as a modern system of medicine.
